Vibrent Health alternatives for cohorts, registries and trials
Vibrent built the participant platform behind one of the largest research cohorts in the world, and for U.S. federal programmes it's a serious contender. If your study runs outside that frame, or you want your own team configuring it in weeks, WeGuide gives you whitelabel native apps, eConsent with version control, a library of validated eCOA instruments, native wearables and telehealth on one managed platform.
No pressure, no hard sell. A 30 minute walkthrough with a research colleague who's built platforms like yours.

Why research teams look for a Vibrent Health alternative
%2520(1).png)
The short version
Vibrent Health has a track record few platforms can match. From 2017 it served as the Participant Technology Systems Center for the NIH All of Us Research Program, and by April 2024 its platform had enrolled 705,719 people across the United States, most of them from groups historically underrepresented in research.
Why teams look elsewhere
It's built around U.S. federal research. Vibrent's platform was developed in collaboration with NIH, its government cloud holds a FedRAMP Moderate authorisation, and its recent work includes All of Us, NCI RADx and a BARDA funded decentralised study with Fred Hutch. That's exactly the right shape for a federal agency or an NIH funded consortium. For a university in Australia, a European patient organisation or a mid market sponsor, the federal credentials matter less than ISO 27001, GDPR, local regulatory standing and multilingual delivery.
The delivery model leans on services and pilots. Vibrent's own site invites teams to "request a pilot" and offers help with IRB submission, eConsent design, EHR setup, remote sampling kits, wearable selection and recruitment strategy. For large programmes that want a partner to carry much of that work, it's a strength. Research teams that would rather configure the study themselves, quickly, often want a platform their own coordinators can run.
The product emphasis is data harmonisation and eSource. Vibrent's newer messaging for CROs and sponsors centres on bringing EHR records, real world data, wearables and ePROs into one participant data repository, including automated EHR to EDC eSource. That's powerful for pragmatic trials that live on clinical records. Studies where the hard part is keeping participants engaged in an app for months or years need a different centre of gravity: messaging, scheduling, education content, gamification and telehealth.
The wearable mix is U.S. consumer standard. On All of Us, Vibrent's platform connected Fitbit, Apple HealthKit and Google's Android fitness data, and it also gave Fitbit devices to some participants. If your protocol depends on Garmin data, check how that would be delivered.
In practice, the signals tend to be the same. A study funded outside the U.S. needs ISO 27001 and GDPR on the security questionnaire, not FedRAMP. A small coordinating team wants to change a questionnaire or add a consent version without raising a services request. A registry needs participants to keep opening the app in year three, which takes messaging, education content and a reason to come back. Or the protocol adds video visits and a Garmin watch. None of those are scale problems, so a platform proven at very large scale doesn't automatically solve them.
WeGuide is a participant engagement platform first. Whitelabel native iOS and Android apps under your brand, eConsent with version control and reconsent, a library of validated eCOA instruments, native Garmin, Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit Air integrations, telehealth, and a no code Program Builder your team uses directly, with typical configuration in two to four weeks. Both platforms are built for long running cohorts and registries, so the honest answer depends on your study, and we'll tell you which is which on this page.

Where Vibrent Health genuinely excels
Proven at national scale. Vibrent's platform recruited, consented and collected data from 705,719 participants in the All of Us Research Program by April 2024, with 87% from groups underrepresented in biomedical research, according to a peer reviewed design paper written by Vibrent and All of Us authors. Few participant platforms have been tested at that size, or with such a diverse participant population.
Federal credentials. Vibrent's Digital Health Research Platform holds a FedRAMP Moderate authorisation. For U.S. agencies and federally funded programmes that require it, that removes months of security review, and it's a requirement WeGuide isn't the answer to.
Inclusive participant design. On All of Us, eConsent was written for a seventh grade reading level with comprehension checks before signature, the platform ran in English and Spanish, and telephone assisted interviewing supported people who weren't comfortable online. That depth of inclusion work is genuinely hard to replicate.
Biospecimens, EHR and genomics in one flow. Remote sampling kits, lab workflow support, FHIR based EHR connections, automated EHR to EDC eSource and genomic return of results are all part of Vibrent's offering. For precision medicine programmes built around samples and records, that's a strong fit.
Reach into U.S. clinical records. Vibrent's CRO materials describe patient brokered access to EHR data through a network of more than 29,800 FHIR endpoints, with participants consenting and sharing records directly to the study. For pragmatic trials that depend on clinical records from many health systems, that is a genuine differentiator.
A services team that carries the load. Vibrent offers help with IRB submissions, eConsent design, EHR setup, wearable selection and recruitment strategy. Large programmes that want a partner to do much of the work will value that.
If your programme is U.S. federally funded, needs FedRAMP, or is built around biospecimens, EHR data and genomics at very large scale, Vibrent is worth the look and we'll say so without hedging.
WeGuide and Vibrent rarely run side by side
Vibrent and WeGuide cover much of the same ground for the participant, so most programmes choose one. Where they can meet is a consortium: a U.S. federal core cohort on Vibrent, and a partner site or international arm that needs its own branded app, a different language mix or ISO 27001 and TGA standing. In that case WeGuide's REST API, webhooks and HL7 / FHIR support can exchange data with the core platform. We don't have a prebuilt Vibrent integration, so we'd scope it honestly on the first call.
For everyone else, the choice is usually clean. If the programme is U.S. federal, FedRAMP bound and built around samples, records and genomics, Vibrent is the natural fit. If it needs a branded engagement app your own team configures, with eCOA, telehealth and Garmin data, and certification that works in Australia, Europe and the U.S., WeGuide is.
How the switch works
For teams evaluating Vibrent Health, or planning a new cohort or registry and comparing platforms, here's how onboarding typically plays out with WeGuide.
Discovery Call
A 30 minute conversation with one of our research delivery team. We look at your protocol, your funding requirements and your participant population. If your contract requires FedRAMP or your study is built around large scale biospecimen and genomics workflows, we'll tell you plainly that Vibrent may be the better fit.
Study Configuration
Our team works alongside yours to configure the study in the no code Program Builder: eScreening, eConsent, eCOA schedules, translations, engagement content and wearable connections. If you're keeping REDCap or another system, we set up the Integration Engine at this stage. Typical timeline is two to four weeks.
Participant Onboarding
The whitelabel app goes live under your brand. Participants download it, complete eConsent and begin the study. Push notifications, scheduling, education content and telehealth are ready from day one, and wearable data starts syncing as soon as participants connect a device.
Ongoing Support
You get a named research delivery contact, not a ticketing queue. Protocol amendments, new consent versions, new languages and new instruments are handled with the same team that configured the study. We stay involved for the life of the study.

Case studies: cohorts, registries and trials running on WeGuide
BRACE Trial (Murdoch Children's Research Institute)
Murdoch Children's Research Institute ran the BRACE trial, an international randomised trial of the BCG vaccine in healthcare workers during COVID-19, across several countries with thousands of participants. It was a hybrid trial, with vaccination and blood collection in person, showing WeGuide in an interventional setting as well as in cohorts and registries.
GenV (Generation Victoria)
Generation Victoria (GenV) is a whole of state longitudinal birth cohort in Victoria, Australia, of roughly 124,000 people: about 50,000 children and 74,000 parents. It's the kind of population scale, many year cohort that Vibrent is known for in the U.S., run on WeGuide. A cohort like this has to keep families with the study for years, which is where engagement tools matter more than enrolment speed.
FSHD Global
FSHD Global runs a longitudinal patient registry for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy on WeGuide, with patient reported outcomes and wearable integration. A rare disease registry where the participant relationship belongs to the patient organisation, and where wearable data and outcomes build up over years rather than in a single study. Questions
Straight answers on how WeGuide compares to Vibrent Health, what a platform change looks like, and when Vibrent is the right choice.
Contact usWhat is Vibrent Health?
Vibrent Health is a digital health research company founded in 2009 and based in Fairfax, Virginia, with offices in the UK and India. Its Digital Health Research Platform, built in collaboration with NIH, covers outreach, screening, eConsent, surveys, wearables, EHR data and return of results. From 2017 it served as the Participant Technology Systems Center for the NIH All of Us Research Program, and in 2025 it still listed All of Us among the programmes its platform supports.
Does Vibrent Health offer a whitelabel app?
Yes. In March 2025 Vibrent announced a whitelabel software suite for CROs and biopharma sponsors with customisable branding, and on All of Us it delivered study branded web and mobile apps. With WeGuide, each study can ship native iOS and Android apps under your own App Store account and name, or use the existing WeGuide app, alongside built in engagement, telehealth and a no code Program Builder. Ask both vendors to show you a live branded app from a current study before you decide.
Is WeGuide FedRAMP authorised?
No. WeGuide's certifications are ISO 27001:2022, HIPAA (with a BAA available), GDPR, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and TGA registration as Class I medical device software. If your contract specifically requires FedRAMP, Vibrent's authorised government cloud is the more direct route, and we'll say so on the first call.
Can WeGuide run a large longitudinal cohort like All of Us?
WeGuide runs GenV, a whole of state birth cohort of roughly 124,000 people in Victoria, Australia, and the FSHD Global registry. All of Us is a larger programme with a heavier biospecimen and genomics component. For cohorts and registries centred on long term participant engagement, WeGuide is built for exactly that. If your programme depends on FedRAMP, national biobanking and genomic return of results at that scale, Vibrent's experience is hard to match.
Which wearables does each platform support?
WeGuide has native integrations with Garmin, Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit Air, and collects raw accelerometer and gyroscope data at 25 Hz through the Garmin Health SDK on supported Garmin models. Sponsors can also provide devices to participants. On All of Us, Vibrent's platform connected Fitbit, Apple HealthKit and Google's Android fitness data, and provided Fitbit devices to some participants. If a particular device is central to your protocol, check it with both vendors before you decide.
How is WeGuide priced compared with Vibrent Health?
WeGuide pricing is project based and quoted on request, with hosting, support and modules included. Vibrent doesn't publish pricing, and its website invites teams to request a pilot. Because Vibrent bundles services such as IRB support, recruitment and remote sampling, compare total programme cost rather than platform fees alone.
