Population health
GenV
120,000+ participants
A population study of children born in Victoria and their parents, many from varied cultural and language backgrounds. Multicultural design and behavioural science keep families taking part over time.
Run culturally sensitive studies, surveys and trials in your participants' own languages, on one regulated platform.
Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities are often underrepresented in health research. Studies that only run in English leave them out, and the evidence ends up describing only part of the population.
The usual tools only go part of the way. REDCap can translate forms and surveys, but each institution has to host, validate and support it, and only non profit institutions can license it. Qualtrics translates surveys on paid licences, but has no participant app for consent, reminders and education.
WeGuide treats language and culture as part of the study design from day one. One program, every language, one dataset.
Leading Australian research institutes use WeGuide to reach participants from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. See all case studies.

Population health
120,000+ participants
A population study of children born in Victoria and their parents, many from varied cultural and language backgrounds. Multicultural design and behavioural science keep families taking part over time.

Randomised controlled trial
10 languages
A COVID-19 trial that engaged CALD communities in ten languages. Several family members contributed data into one shared family record. The app launched within weeks.

Genetic research
Multicultural communities
OurDNA partners with communities that are underrepresented in genetic databases. WeGuide tailored the app with multilingual, culturally sensitive design to build trust with participants.

Randomised controlled trial
5 countries
A BCG vaccine trial with over 6,800 healthcare workers in five countries. Multilingual questionnaires captured follow up data remotely between site visits.
Participants see consent, questions, reminders and education in the language they choose. Your team runs a single study.
Deploy consent forms in several languages at once, so every participant knows what they agree to.
Participants pick their language in the app. From then on, letters, education and forms appear in that language, including scripts that read right to left, such as Arabic.
Set up a multilingual study in the same Program Builder you use for any WeGuide study.
We turn on language support in your study app and set up each language you need.
Translate forms, messages and education with your own translators, or use WeGuide's professional medical translation services. Keep the meaning and the cultural context.
Each participant selects a language in your branded study app. Family members in one household can contribute to the same record.
Reminders, news and education reach every participant in their own language, which supports adherence.
Responses from every language land in one study dataset. Explore them in WeGuide Analytics or export them for your own analysis.
REDCap and Qualtrics are strong tools for surveys. Studies that follow real participants over time, in many languages, need more.

If you already use REDCap, the WeGuide Integration Engine connects to REDCap through its API, so you can keep your existing database. See REDCap alternatives
Use multilingual support in any WeGuide study type, including decentralised clinical trials.
Follow diverse families and communities over years, in their own languages.
Build trust with communities that are missing from genetic databases.
Recruit and retain participants who don't speak English as a first language.
Run questionnaires in several languages across multinational studies.
Keep a registry representative as it grows across regions and languages.
Invite whole communities to take part, not only those who read English.
Questions we hear from researchers planning culturally sensitive studies.
Culturally sensitive research is designed around the language, beliefs and customs of the people taking part. It covers how you recruit, how you explain the study and consent, how questions are worded and how you keep participants engaged. The goal is evidence that represents the whole population, not only those who are easiest to reach.
CALD stands for culturally and linguistically diverse. In Australia, the term describes communities whose cultural background or main language is different from the majority, who speak English. CALD communities are often underrepresented in health research. That's why the INHERIT and GenV teams designed their studies for them from the start.
Build the survey once, translate each question and answer option, and let participants choose their language. Keep every language version linked to the same question, so the answers form one dataset. In WeGuide, translated forms, consent, reminders and education all follow the participant's chosen language.
We set up the languages each study needs, including scripts that read right to left, such as Arabic. The INHERIT trial ran in ten languages, including community languages used by CALD participants. Tell us your languages when you plan the study and we confirm each one with you.
Yes. Participants choose their preferred language directly in the app. See multilingual support. From then on, all app content is shown in that language.
You can use your own translators, or WeGuide's professional medical translation services for forms, messages and other program materials. Translations move in and out of WeGuide as an Excel file, so you can update them in bulk.
Linguistic validation is the process that makes a translated questionnaire measure the same thing as the original. It usually includes forward translation, back translation and cognitive interviews with native speakers. Read more in our guide to eCOA validation. If an instrument owner or a translation vendor supplies a validated translation, you load it as supplied. Form content exports to Excel and imports back into WeGuide, so the validated wording is not retyped.
Yes, for studies that need a participant app with multilingual consent, questionnaires, reminders and education in one place. If your institution already uses REDCap, the WeGuide Integration Engine can connect to it through the REDCap API.
WeGuide is a TGA registered Class I medical device and is ISO 27001 certified. It supports HIPAA, GDPR and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
Tell us about your participants and languages. We'll show you how a multilingual study works in WeGuide.
