What is Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (LiSat)

The Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (LiSat) is a handy tool for checking how happy patients are with their daily lives. It helps clinicians track overall wellbeing. This self-report measure looks at specific domains rather than just general health. It breaks down satisfaction into clear areas like work, money, and family life. Patients rate items on a six-point scale ranging from very dissatisfying to very satisfying. The survey covers key topics such as leisure activities, contact with friends, and physical health, giving a clear picture of where a person stands. It is quick to finish and easy to score, making it a top choice in rehabilitation settings. Doctors use it to spot social or physical issues that need attention. By seeing what matters most to the patient, care teams can adjust their plans to support better long-term recovery outcomes.

LISAT Scoring

The LiSat can be scored using two main approaches: calculating mean scores or dichotomising the results. 1. Mean Scores: Items are rated on a scale from 1 (very dissatisfying) to 6 (very satisfying). You calculate the mean for specific domains like vocational situation or family life to track changes over time. 2. Dichotomised Scoring: This method splits responses into two clear groups. Scores of 1 to 4 are classed as not satisfied, while 5 and 6 show satisfaction. It is a practical way to flag patients who are struggling and might need a bit more help with their rehab journey.
