What is Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)

The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) is a top tool for assessing women's sexual health. It helps doctors identify specific dysfunction issues quickly. This brief questionnaire uses nineteen items to look at sexual functioning over the past four weeks. It is simple to use and covers the main areas needed for a clear clinical picture. It breaks things down into six specific domains including desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain. Patients rate their experiences on a scale, which helps clinicians pinpoint exactly where the trouble lies without guessing. Since it is self-administered, patients can fill it out privately. This reduces awkwardness and leads to more honest answers. It is great for clinical trials or routine check-ups. The scoring system is easy to interpret, making it a practical choice for tracking treatment progress effectively.

FSFI Scoring

The Female Sexual Function Index is scored using a specific method that weighs six distinct domains. First, you sum the individual item scores for areas like desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain. Then, multiply each sum by its assigned factor to balance the weightings. Finally, add these weighted domain scores together to get a total ranging from 2.0 to 36.0. Generally, a full scale score under 26.55 suggests a risk of sexual dysfunction, which helps doctors spot clinical issues early on.
